Are they balanced?

First and foremost, Chessex dice are highly consistent. This means that the results you get from roll to roll are always relatively close, which is critical for fairness in gaming.

Balanced means that each die has an equal chance of landing on any of its faces. Generally speaking, the dice are fairly well-balanced. However, there can be the odd variation from die to die, so it's always a good idea to test them out before using them in a game.

Do they have a long life?
